Sexual Violence Prevention Framework Consultation

Sexual violence has a significant and profound impact on individuals, families and communities in Queensland. It can affect people of all ages, genders and backgrounds, and occurs in a range of settings. Sexual violence can have far-reaching health, social, emotional and economic impacts on victims, survivors, their families, friends and workplaces, and the broader community.

The Queensland Government strongly believes that sexual violence is unacceptable, and is committed to preventing and responding to all forms of sexual violence in our communities.

While there has already been progress, there is more work to be done. We have planned a range of consultation activities and we want to hear from people in the community about their views on preventing and responding to all forms of sexual violence.

There are different ways to get involved:

Online survey

The online survey is based around four themes included in a background paper (see below). We would love to hear your thoughts and experiences - you can find the link to the survey below. The survey closes on 30 April 2019.

Youth Engagement Hub

If you are aged between 13 and 25, tell us what you think on the Queensland Youth Engagement Hub at

Community forums

If you would like to share your thoughts and experiences in person, you can also attend one of our community forums. These are being held at the following locations across the state - click on the links to register to attend.

In addition to the community forums, we will also be working with local services in each location to hear directly from victims and survivors about their experiences in a safe and supported environment.

Background paper

We have developed a background paper: Sexual Violence Prevention: Having the conversation to help the community understand what sexual violence is, outline what the Queensland Government is already doing, and highlight some of the themes we think the Framework could address. You can view and download the background paper below.

Answer an online survey

  • Sexual Violence Prevention Survey

This survey is to help us seek the views of a broad range of community members on this important issue. It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Questions are not compulsory - you only need to answer the questions you wish to respond to.

Your responses are completely confidential. The information you share here will only be used to help inform the development of the Sexual Violence Prevention Framework.

Sexual violence is a sensitive issue and can bring up strong feelings for people, especially if they have experienced abuse or assault. If this survey makes you feel worried, upset or unsafe you can call the Queensland Sexual Assault Helpline on 1800 010 120 between 7.30am and 11.30pm, 7 days a week. You can also call Lifeline on 13 11 14. If you or anyone you know is in immediate danger call Triple Zero (000).
