Mount Coolum National Park Draft Management Plan 2019

Have your say on the future management of Mount Coolum National Park.

Mount Coolum is an important place for the Kabi Kabi First Nation people who have a traditional connection to the area. It is a prominent Sunshine Coast landmark, with significant values, attracting 240,000 visitors per year.

The Department of Environment and Science (DES) has prepared a draft management plan for Mount Coolum National Park. Once finalised the management plan will replace the existing plan which has been in effect since 1998.

The draft management plan identifies three key values for management focus:

  •  Coolum Creek and lower Maroochy River nationally important wetland (Marcoola section)
  • Montane heath
  • Iconic summit track

The draft management plan is accompanied by the Mount Coolum National Park Visitor Strategy and Resource Information document. All three planning documents are available for download from the DES website.

The closing date for submissions is Wednesday 13 March 2019.

Thank you for your continued interest in the management of Queensland’s protected areas. For further information on the management planning process please visit www.des.qld.gov.au.
