Advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and training: Have your say

You are invited to provide feedback on the Department of Education and Training’s draft Advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and training: An action plan for Queensland (PDF, 1.23MB).

The new action plan provides an overarching framework to drive improvements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders in early childhood education and care, school education, vocational education and training, and higher education.

The action plan aims to enhance the Closing the Gap agenda with a shared vision for achieving and delivering excellence for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners.

The Queensland Government is keen to consult with key stakeholders, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations, on the development of a new action plan.

The draft action plan outlines 7 key focus areas to accelerate progress in improving education and training outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, students and young people:

• making early gains
• reaching learning potential
• developing skills
• transforming pathways
• supporting successful transitions
• engaging partners
• building capability.

We want to hear your ideas and feedback on the directions and initiatives proposed in this draft action plan. The public consultation process for the online survey closes at midnight, Friday 19 May 2017.
