Networks
- Rural and Regional Research Network - this site incorporates a range of resources and communication tools. Participants represent a broad cross section of the community, including practitioners from government, environment, education and community development. Resources include an event calendar, news building tools, a web link library and a database which makes it easy to locate other people who share similar interest and to promote events and resources relevant to rural and regional development and research.

- YARN.gov.au is an interactive website designed for young people in rural industries. It aims to provide people with a place to interact and share information with others around Australia. The site has been developed in partnership with participants of the Young People in Rural Industries program, and is administered by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
- The Regional Government Network for Sustainable Development (nrg4SD) was founded by a group of regions committed to policies of sustainable development which found that not being states hindered their work in an international scenario. The site has links to international agreements relevant to sustainable development and a library of regional development policies from across the world.
- The Regional Institute Ltd is an independent, non-profit publisher of educational and research information. It works to raise community awareness of science and advocates uniform publishing standards and the adoption of guidelines for website usability.
- The Foundation for Australian Agricultural Women is an independent philanthropic network that aims to improve the participation of rural and agricultural women in decision making at all levels.
- The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal aims to use new approaches to regional and rural development as it facilitates partnerships and mentor relationships which may otherwise not have happened. The foundation supports the development of regional community foundations through seed funding and challenge grants. FRRR commenced operations in 2000 and to date FRRR has allocated $2.5 million to communities across the nation and has leveraged many millions more supporting projects that stimulate the renewal of whole communities.
- The Australia New Zealand Regional Science Association International (ANZRSAI) - an international group whose members encompass a wide range of disciplines and employment backgrounds. It is concerned with all aspects of regional analysis and development.
Engagement
- Resources and links supporting engagement are continually being developed by Community Engagement & Development Policy. A primary resource provided by the Division is the e-Connect bulletin.
- Area Consultative Committees (Commonwealth funded)
- Regional Managers Forums (Queensland) - a program designed to support collaborative planning amongst regional managers of Queensland's government agencies.
- Regional Australia - Sustainable Regions Program (Commonwealth program, administered through DOTARS, and applicable to Atherton and Wide Bay-Burnett in Queensland)
- Cooperative Venture for Capacity Building for Innovation in Rural Industries - Partners: Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (manages the Cooperative Venture); Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Australia; Meat & Livestock Australia; Dairy Research and Development Corporation; Land & Water Australia; Murray-Darling Basin Commission; Grains Research and Development Corporation; Sugar Research and Development Corporation; and Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation.
Toolkits
- Strengthening Rural Communities Resource Kit - The Resource Kit is designed as a practical manual to assist in planning and undertaking a process of community renewal. It functions as a toolkit and reference manual for information about community sustainability and resilience, especially in rural and regional communities.
- Citizen science toolbox - a resource designed to support community participation and partnerships. The toolbox assists you in your search for appropriate tools for different types of community engagement, communication, capacity-building, and so on based on the resources available and context. It also includes an annotated bibliography.
- The Art and Science of Community Problem-Solving, a learning space for people and institutions worldwide. The users of this site work in all three sectors--public, nonprofit (or non-governmental), and private--and across them, and on a wide variety of issues. The site contains a link to Strategy Tools: to help approach issues and work with other stakeholders more effectively and relate to a variety of strategic tasks.
Information portals
- Commonwealth Regional Information Directory (formerly called The Rural Book) is written for people living in regional and rural Australia. It includes information that will assist regional and rural Australians in particular, but there are also entries on Commonwealth programmes and services available to all Australians. The Commonwealth Regional Information Directory focuses on programmes and services directed to individuals in communities, but there is plenty of information that will be of interest to community groups, local authorities and other organisations. It deals with a broad range of subjects, from programmes that specifically assist businesses, to general social, welfare and education support.
- Community Builders (NSW) This site is an interactive electronic clearing house for everyone involved in community level social, economic and environmental renewal including community leaders, community & government workers, volunteers, program managers, academics, policy makers, youth and seniors.
