Policy context
The Evaluation Strategy supports the priorities of the Queensland Government, in particular the priorities around Community Engagement and a Better Quality of Life and Building Queensland's Regions, including the initiatives around:
- strengthening representative democracy;
- widening and deepening citizen participation; and
- building community capacity.
The Evaluation Strategy also supports the Managing for Outcomes framework through (i) reviewing the current performance measurement and reporting processes for community engagement being used across Government and (ii) using an intra-government collaborative process to develop and provide guidance on improved processes.
The Evaluation Strategy will contribute directly to two key policy initiatives being progressed with Community Engagement & Development Policy:
- Community Engagement Improvement Strategy
The Community Engagement Improvement Strategy (CEIS) is the overarching framework for the implementation of public sector community engagement capability development. The Evaluation Strategy supports this through the development of a guidebook on community engagement evaluation and the development of a framework for evaluating the CEIS. - Research and Evaluation Agenda
The Research and Evaluation Agenda is Community Engagement & Development Policy's strategic document for community engagement research.
The Evaluation Strategy supports this by providing guidance and training on how evaluation can contribute to the broader research agenda and actively encouraging evaluation research around the priority research areas.
