Overview
The Community Engagement Evaluation Strategy is Community Engagement & Development Policy's strategic document for community engagement evaluation. It builds on the background paper 'Framework for Evaluating Community Engagement' developed in 2002.
This document sets out the approach to community engagement evaluation being promoted by the division and the strategic resources and services that will be used to support that approach. It is based on assumptions broadly accepted in the community engagement literature, namely that:
- trust and confidence between communities and government is more likely to grow through involvement;
- community engagement is an essential ingredient of good governance;
- better engagement will contribute to improved policy, services and programs for communities; and
- evaluation has a key role to play in building knowledge and capacity for good engagement.
The remainder of the document is organized into three sections:
- Policy Context
- Strategy for Community Engagement Evaluation
- Key Outputs of the Evaluation Strategy.
