Privacy
Your privacy
The Queensland Government is committed to protecting your personal information and has established a privacy regime for the Queensland public sector based on Information Standard Number 42 Information Privacy.
We comply with this standard when we collect and manage your personal information.
Personal information can include your name, address, phone number, email address, age, gender, your employer, and your position title.
We collect and manage your personal information in the ways described in this privacy statement. However, we may vary this from time to time and will notify you of changes by publishing them on this site.
Information we collect
We ask you to provide personal information if you submit your views to an online consultation, complete an online feedback form, or subscribe to an email newsletter. For example, we ask for your age group, gender details, and location. We collect this information for statistical reporting purposes so that we can monitor the effectiveness of our online initiatives and successfully reach target groups.
In some online consultations, we may ask for additional information. For example:
- name, postal and/or email address
- target group identification details
- demographic information (for example, postcode).
These requirements depend on the consultation issue and are determined by the Queensland Government agency responsible for the consultation. For example, some consultations are based on legislative provisions that require people who submit a response to provide identifying information.
How we manage public and private responses to online consultations
When you submit a response to an online consultation, you can choose to submit a public or private response. We only publish public responses on our website, we do not publish private submissions.
If you submit a public response, a trained Queensland Government officer will make a decision if the response is suitable to be published on our website. This process is called moderation. The moderator will either approve or reject the submission for publication on our website based on our ConsultQld Acceptable Use Policy. The moderator will not be able to edit the submission.
If you submit a public response, we ask you to provide an email address so that the moderator can inform you about the outcome of the moderation process.
If you ask to be informed about future developments of an online consultation, we will ask you to provide your name and a postal or email address.
Regardless of whether you submit a public or private response, we do not publish your personal information on our website.
However, we do forward public and private responses and your personal information to the Queensland Government agency responsible for policy development in relation to the consultation for analysis and development of a report about the government's decision on the issue. The agency may also use your personal details to contact you if you have asked to be kept informed about the developments of the issue.
How we manage messages posted to eForums
When you submit a message to eForums, you are submitting a public message.
When you submit a message, a trained moderator will make a decision about whether the message is suitable to be published on our website. This process is called moderation. The moderator will either approve or reject the message for publication on our website based on our eForums Acceptable Use Policy. The moderator will be able to edit the message prior to publishing it on the website.
Please include only your first name or a nick name in the Name field. If you provide your real name, your message will not be approved. Please do not provide any personal information in your message, either about yourself or another person, as this will be removed by the moderator. The email address field will only used to contact you about your message, if necessary.
Some eForum topics may ask for your age group, gender and location. We collect this information for statistical reporting purposes so that we can monitor the effectiveness of our online initiatives and successfully reach target groups.
The moderator may forward the full text of your message to another person in the Queensland government. Messages will only be forwarded for responding to your message, if required, or for informing Queensland government policy development.
Use and disclosure of personal information
We will not add your name, address or your email address to a mailing list, nor will we disclose these details to third parties (other than the Queensland Government agency responsible for policy development in relation to the consultation) without your consent, unless required by law.
Email messages may be monitored by authorised information technology staff for purposes such as system troubleshooting and maintenance.
