While Cabinet meetings are not open to the public, Community Cabinet meetings give citizens an opportunity to meet with Cabinet members in person and have their questions answered.
Who attends?
- The Premier
- Ministers
- Parliamentary Secretaries
- Chief executive officers of government departments
When and where?
- Any location in Queensland including regional areas
- Every three to four weeks
- Held on Sundays between 1.00 pm - 6.00 pm
Public invitations to Community Cabinet meetings are publicised in the local media, together with details of times and location, and where deputation request forms can be obtained.
What happens at a meeting?
The first hour:
- An open community forum
- The Premier speaks and individuals may direct questions to the Premier
The final hours:
- Short 15 minute meetings (deputations)
- Individuals or groups meet personally with the Premier or Minister/s about issues of interest
After the meeting:
- Formal responses to the deputations are provided
- A newsletter reports the issues raised and any outcomes
