East Coast Trawl review and industry development plan

Closing date for feedback: 20 November 2009

A review of the Queensland East Coast Trawl Fishery and the production of an industry development plan for the commercial fishing sector are now underway.

The fishery

The East Coast Trawl Fishery is a multi-species fishery which includes the inshore and offshore otter trawl fisheries, Moreton Bay trawl fishery and the beam trawl fishery. Principal targeted species include prawns, bugs and scallops.

The review

Feedback received during this public consultation will contribute to the:
  1. review of the Fisheries (East Coast Trawl) Management Plan 1999—including the development of a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) and draft Public Benefit Test (PBT)
  2. production of an industry development plan for the fishery.

Feedback must be received by Friday, 20 November 2009.

A Have your say paper and response form have been prepared to assist you in commenting on the management arrangements for the fishery.
