Draft Queensland Coastal Plan including the Draft State Planning Policy Coastal Protection
Closing date for feedback: 30 November 2009
The Department of Environment and Resource Management wants you to help shape the future of coastal planning and management in Queensland by providing feedback on the Draft Queensland Coastal Plan.
The department has developed a Draft Queensland Coastal Plan to help manage and protect Queensland’s coastline. The Draft Queensland Coastal Plan has been prepared in response to issues raised during the review of the State Coastal Management Plan—Queensland Coastal Policy. The Draft Queensland Coastal Plan aims to provide greater certainty about dealing with coastal hazards such as erosion and sea-level rise and managing the pressures of population and development.
The Draft Queensland Coastal Plan includes a Draft State Policy Coastal Management and a Draft State Planning Policy Coastal Protection (draft SPP). The draft SPP is an instrument under the Integrated Planning Act 1997 and has been prepared in conjunction with the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning the Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe.A copy of the plan and supporting information is available at www.derm.qld.gov.au/coastalplan
