Be informed
In a democratic society like Australia, citizens expect to be informed by the government they elect.
Through freely-available information distributed by government, people can form opinions and make decisions. They can educate themselves about issues of interest or concern, and they can use information to participate in government processes and have a say in what is planned.
The Queensland Government provides a wealth of useful information to citizens through brochures, websites, annual reports, research papers, copies of legislation, media releases, advertising and other publications.
The government also recognises that the community is a valuable source of information that it can draw on to better understand issues and provide the right services. So as well as informing citizens, the government encourages public input through community engagement activities. These include face-to-face consultation, public meetings and workshops, interest group forums, discussion papers and feedback opportunities.
While this website will assist you to access information and get involved in government, it also introduces you to how government works.
